Since starting as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. **What you’ll do** - Develop, test, and deploy features for Waymo’s next-generation offboard weather systems and infrastructure under the guidance of tech leads. - Implement and maintain scalable data pipelines for weather data ingestion, processing, and storage. - Contribute to the development and enhancement of real-time and forecasting weather applications. - Collaborate with cross-functional engineering partners to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions. - Ensure high performance, code health, and stability for systems vital to safe fleet operations in diverse weather environments. - Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and write comprehensive technical documentation. **What you have** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. - 4+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages. - Strong foundation in computer science (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems). - Excellent collaboration skills to work with cross-functional partners. **We prefer** - Experience in C++ - Familiarity with Google infrastructure (e.g., Flume, Borg, Protocol Buffers, OnePlatform) - Experience with payments, billing, or fintech systems where correctness is non-negotiable. **Compensation (US)** - Expected base salary range: **$175,000 — $215,000 USD** - Eligible for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program (subject to eligibility requirements).
