About this role
**Finance Engineer** **About AssemblyAI** AssemblyAI builds best-in-class Voice AI models powering the next generation of voice applications. With 600M+ monthly inference calls and 2B+ end-user experiences, we're a capital-efficient AI company with ~100 people generating ~$600K ARR per employee. **The Role** We're seeking a Finance Engineer to build the data pipelines, dashboards, and automation that power our finance function and revenue operations. You'll work inside the numbers you're automating—not alongside them—partnering with the VP Finance, Controller, and leadership across sales and engineering. **What You'll Own** • Unit economics: cost-to-serve, gross margin, and contribution models by product, customer, and workload • Technology budgeting: cloud/GPU spend attribution, vendor forecasting, and engineering planning models • Finance dashboarding: single source of truth for burn, runway, margin, and company KPIs • Budget-vs-actuals automation: live department views and overspend alerts • Deal desk framework: pricing guardrails, automated quote generation, and escalation routing • Sales compensation automation: comp tools and pipelines from CRM and billing data • Finance agents and internal tools: workflows that deliver answers without tickets • Finance data layer: pipelines from billing, payroll, cloud, and accounting systems **What You'll Need** • Strong data engineering fundamentals: SQL, Python, warehouse modeling, orchestration (dbt, Airflow, or equivalent) • Measurement discipline and skepticism of your own results until they reconcile • Appetite for the full stack—willing to trace issues from margin models back to billing events or cloud tags • Experience with financial/operational data (revenue, cost, billing, payroll, cloud spend) • Track record building internal tools, dashboards, or automations non-engineers rely on daily • Familiarity with LLM-based agent workflows and clear-eyed view of where they break • Strong Python skills; accounting/billing/ERP system API experience (NetSuite, Stripe, etc.) is a plus • Excellent communication across finance, engineering, and leadership **Bonus** • Finance/accounting background or strong grasp of usage-based and API unit economics • Revenue operations exposure: CRM, CPQ, sales comp tools, or deal desk experience **Compensation** Salary range: $160,000 - $240,000 (U.S.) **Reports to:** VP Finance
