**Senior ML Engineer (Energy & Utilities)** **About AZX** We accelerate positive impact in critical industries through AI transformation, specializing in physics-informed ML and enterprise AI solutions for climate and sustainability challenges. We work with leaders in real estate, energy, logistics, and utilities. **The Role** Build AI models and infrastructure powering AZX's utility client work—reusable capabilities across engagements including a building-energy simulation engine, grid sensor data tools, and standardized building data format utilities. **Key Responsibilities** • Own reusable utility ML libraries (forecasting, disaggregation, demand response, detection, asset health) • Build and maintain simulation engine (Rust crates + Python bindings) • Own grid-data toolkits: protocol codecs, synthetic scenario generators, verification utilities • Support demand-response program planning and dispatch • Manage publish path with versioned packages and evaluation evidence • Drive feedback loop between field deployments and capability improvements **Core Qualifications** • 5+ years shipping applied ML on real-world signals (forecasting, disaggregation, detection, reliability modeling) • Strong numerical/scientific computing: feature engineering, solver-level numerics, metric validation • Python + systems language (Rust preferred, teachable here) • Library craft: versioned, tested, documented components • Hands-on data engineering: finding, cleaning, joining, profiling inputs • Stack fluency: Python 3.12+, numpy, pandas/polars, scikit-learn, statsmodels, time-series tools, SQL/Postgres • Willingness to learn Rust via PyO3/maturin • Energy domain vocabulary ramp-up capability • Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) **Why AZX** • Fast-growing, profitable, mission-driven company • Competitive early-stage compensation + bonus + equity • Health insurance with dependent coverage • Flexible PTO • Fully remote with Seattle cluster **Requirements** ✓ Authorized to work in US (no visa sponsorship available) ✓ Able to travel 2x/year for company summits ✓ Comfortable with take-home assignment + 2-hour technical interview ✓ Max 2 role applications per 6-month period *Don't check all boxes?
