**Software Engineer - Ledger** **About Cardless** Cardless is building infrastructure for companies to design, build, and launch their own financial products. We've raised $170M in funding and are scaling toward profitability by end of 2026. **The Role** Own the double-entry ledger system that tracks balances across every card program we run. You'll own its architecture, build credit mechanics (billing cycles, interest accrual, payment allocation), and ensure reconciliation integrity. **What You'll Do** • Own the ledger system of record for all card program balances • Build credit mechanics: billing cycle close, statement generation, interest accrual, payment allocation, fees, delinquency, charge-off • Own reconciliation and break detection • Set architecture and prioritization • Work with Finance, Compliance, and partners on audit requirements **What We're Looking For** • 6+ years building production backend systems • Meaningful experience with ledger, core banking, money movement, or payments platforms • You've built a double-entry ledger, card processing infrastructure, or migrated off third-party processors • Strong distributed systems and API fundamentals • Comfortable with ambiguity and scoping your own work **Bonus Experience** Credit card ledgers, auth-to-settlement lifecycle, ledger work at Chime/Stripe/Block/Affirm/Brex/etc., or issuing platform experience. **Compensation & Benefits** $190K–$295K + equity + benefits • 100% health/vision/dental coverage (primary) • Catered lunches, $250/month commuter benefit • Parental leave, flexible PTO (min. 15 days) • Apple equipment, 401k **Location** San Francisco, CA (Jackson Square) — 5 days/week in office
