About this role
**Barbaricum is seeking an Information Technology Technician I (Computer Network Support Specialist)** to provide technical support for IT systems, network infrastructure, and mission-support environments. You’ll assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration of computer systems, servers, and network services across physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments—supporting day-to-day IT operations, monitoring, and user support while helping ensure security, reliability, and performance. --- **Responsibilities** - Provide **Tier I** technical support for computer systems, network infrastructure, and IT services supporting mission and training operations. - Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop systems, servers, peripherals, and network-connected devices. - Support **Windows and Linux** operating systems (user account management, system administration, and routine maintenance). - Assist with operation and monitoring of **physical, virtual, and cloud-based** infrastructure environments. - Support virtualization platforms such as **VMware, KVM, and Xen** (basic administration and troubleshooting). - Monitor system and network performance, identify issues, and escalate complex problems as appropriate. - Assist with security best practices, vulnerability mitigation, and compliance with organizational cybersecurity requirements. - Support infrastructure upgrades, hardware deployments, software installations, and configuration management. - Maintain technical documentation, inventory records, and standard operating procedures. - Collaborate with network, systems, and cybersecurity teams to ensure reliable and secure IT services. --- **Required Qualifications** - **Active DoD Secret Clearance** - **Associate’s degree** or equivalent experience - Must meet **DoDM 8140.03 IAT II** requirements - Minimum **1 year** of experience with computer systems and working with IT and networking - Demonstrated experience with **Windows enterprise** and **Linux** server/OS engineering and administration, including knowledge of network vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and mitigation - Demonstrated experience with **cloud, physical, and virtual** network architecture/engineering and infrastructure monitoring - Expertise with hypervisors such as **VMware, KVM, and Xen** --- **EEO Commitment** All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
