Camunda is fully remote and global, and is transforming into an AI-first organization built on its own platform. ## Role: Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Data Layer) As a **Senior Backend Software Engineer** on the **Data Layer** team, you’ll help build and evolve the storage and query layer that keeps **Camunda 8 process data** fast, accurate, and available at scale. You’ll work across **relational databases** and **Elasticsearch/OpenSearch**. The data layer and its pipelines power use cases ranging from **process monitoring** to **agent-driven automation** capabilities. ## What You’ll Do - **Design, build, and maintain** backend services for the data layer that store and serve Camunda 8 process data (relational databases + Elasticsearch/OpenSearch), with a focus on **correctness, performance, and scale**. - **Own end-to-end delivery** of engineering initiatives—partnering with Product Management and cross-functional colleagues to turn requirements into solution designs and drive timely, high-quality delivery. - **Evolve how process data is processed, retained, and exposed**, enabling customers to work with their data the way they need. - Improve **secondary storage performance and scalability** as usage grows, and build supporting tooling. ## Collaboration You’ll work closely with **product management, design, QA, and support**, partnering with peers to influence how the data layer evolves to meet customer needs.
