In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain complex software systems—leading agile efforts, mentoring engineers, and delivering high-quality solutions. ### Location / Interview Notes - An in-person interview **may** be required during the hiring process. ### Geo-Salary Information (Base) - **CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA:** $94,458 to $179,048 - **NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME:** $85,871 to $162,771 - **UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV:** $77,283 to $146,464 - **In CA:** Typical hiring range is **$123,077.70 to $170,941.25** ### Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) - Write high-quality code for complex scenarios with strong test coverage. - Translate product requirements into robust designs for modular, configurable, reusable, fast, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable distributed systems. - Lead design and code reviews across multiple applications to ensure best practices and alignment with Mercury standards. - Lead sprint teams to deliver new/improved features and remove impediments affecting sprint backlog delivery. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver intended functionality. - Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, fostering innovation and excellence. ### Qualifications **Education** - **Minimum:** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field **OR** equivalent education/experience. - **Preferred:** Master’s degree in Computer Science. **Experience** - **Minimum:** 5+ years software programming; 2+ years with Mercury technologies; 1+ year leading and mentoring engineering teams. - **Preferred:** 6+ years with **Guidewire PolicyCenter** (configurations and integrations). - **Preferred/Minimum:** 4+ years **Java/J2EE**. - **Preferred/Minimum:** 2+ years with **Kafka, AWS, S3, Drools, Blaze**, etc. - **Preferred/Minimum:** 2+ years with **Personal lines** products. - **Preferred/Minimum:** 1+ year with **CI/CD** tools (e.g., Jenkins, GUnit). **Skills / Knowledge** - Proficient in industry-standard languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript). - Strong data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. - Relational DBs, NoSQL, and caching. - API development using REST and/or gRPC. - Message queuing, data streaming, workflow, and integration frameworks (e.g., Apache Kafka, NiFi, Amazon SQS, MS MQ, Apache Camel). - Microservices architecture. - Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). - DevSecOps practices. - Distributed systems design (modular, configurable, reusable, secure, compliant, scalable, maintainable). - Analytics/experimentation to improve speed, scalability, and effectiveness. - Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration. - Demonstrated leadership through mentoring and technical guidance. - Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure). ### About Mercury Mercury’s mission is to help people reduce risk and overcome unexpected events.
