**Senior Device Software Engineer** **About the Role** Join Sauron's device platform team to build the embedded Linux foundation that powers next-generation home security. You'll own the software stack running on real home networks—from BSP to application level—ensuring reliable video streaming, on-device perception, and fleet management across devices you can't physically access. **Key Responsibilities** • Develop and maintain embedded Linux platforms from scratch • Architect on-device software with electrical, mechanical, perception, backend, and mobile teams • Drive features end-to-end: design, implementation, validation, and production rollout • Build and optimize the on-device video pipeline (RTSP ingest → perception/recording/WebRTC delivery) • Root-cause issues using remote diagnostics, telemetry, and hardware testing • Define logging, observability, and reliability standards **Required Experience** • 4+ years developing device software for hardware products • Linux on embedded/constrained systems (Yocto, AOSP) • C/C++ development for Linux • Multi-threaded, highly reliable code • Real-time video pipelines (GStreamer or FFmpeg/libav) • RTSP/RTP and H.264/H.265 knowledge • Software lifecycle best practices (code review, version control, testing, CI, hardware validation) **Nice to Have** • Custom embedded Linux distributions (Yocto) • ARM Trustzone and OP-TEE • WebRTC and HLS delivery • Hardware-accelerated video (V4L2, Jetson, VA-API) • gRPC/protobuf and OpenTelemetry • High-performance team experience **About Sauron** Home security company backed by $18M seed funding, leveraging AI and sensor technology to provide homeowners with next-generation protection and control. *Equal Opportunity Employer*
