In this role, you’ll help unite human teams with AI agents—automating manual tasks, uncovering insights at scale, and enabling people to focus on judgment, creativity, and big thinking. **Team & Role** You’ll join the **Core Views Experiences** team, reimagining how people interact with their work by building the next generation of sheet views—modern, fast, scalable, and genuinely delightful. You’ll tackle full-stack challenges, from high-performance rendering and real-time collaboration on the front end to distributed data systems at massive scale on the back end. **Location / Work Model** You’ll report to an Engineering Manager in **Bellevue, WA**, or you may work **remotely from anywhere in the US** where Smartsheet is a registered employer. --- ## What You Will Do - Design and build full-stack features—front-end, back-end, data modeling, infrastructure, and test automation. - Own large, ambiguous projects end-to-end—from idea to GA—across planning, design, execution, shipping, and operational excellence. - Lead hard front-end challenges, including virtualized, high-performance views that render hundreds of thousands of rows instantly. - Design complex back-end and distributed systems, including APIs and data pipelines for real-time collaboration, large datasets, and high-concurrency workloads. - Proactively identify and fix team-wide operational and DX problems by building tooling and infrastructure that compounds across the team. - Use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude) across the SDLC to speed development, testing, review, and documentation—validating outputs with strong judgment. - Lead design and code reviews to raise engineering standards; mentor engineers through complex projects by teaching approach. - Partner with product and design from concept through launch, turning ambiguous customer needs into clear requirements and trade-offs. - Own work end-to-end with business-level impact: reliable, observable code, production monitoring, and iteration based on real usage and feedback. - Navigate competing priorities and dependencies to drive projects to completion across product, design, data, and customer success. --- ## What You Have - **5+ years** of engineering experience in a team environment. - **3+ years** of experience in service-oriented architecture, deployment systems, and cloud infrastructure. - Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Ruby, Java, Go, Python, TypeScript). - Experience with modern client JS libraries such as **React** and **Redux**. - Experience with application migration patterns and trade-off scenarios. - Knowledge of OOP and REST design principles. - Clear, objective writing and in-person communication. - Curiosity to learn new technologies and systems. - A degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or related) or equivalent practical experience. - Legally eligible to work in the **U.S.** on an ongoing basis. --- ## Current US Perks & Benefits - Employer-subsidized medical/vision/dental coverage for full-time employees - 401(k) match (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of eligible pay) - Monthly stipend to support work and productivity - Flexible Time Away Program + Sick Time Off - Life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans (US employees) - 12 paid holidays per year - Up to 24 weeks of parental leave - Paid volunteer day - Professional growth opportu
