## Senior Machine Learning Engineer - New Verticals Agentic Foundations ### About the Team Agentic Foundations, part of New Verticals ML, builds core AI/ML intelligence powering high-quality, scalable agents at DoorDash, including the Ask grocery assistant. We operate in a closed loop where new models, evals, and representations improve agents, and real-world usage drives foundational work. ### About the Role Join Agentic Foundations focusing on Vertical Agent Development. You'll own continuous improvement of flagship agents like Ask Assistant using eval-driven loops to make them faster, more cost-efficient, and reliable for millions of customers. Help bring this approach to new agentic experiences for Merchants and Dashers. Work at the intersection of LLMs, agents, post-training, and evals on production problems. Partner with engineers on agentic memory, agent-compatible product representations, and small language model (SLM) post-training. Hybrid role reporting to the New Verticals AI/ML engineering lead. ### Key Responsibilities • Raise quality of Consumer agents by building eval harness-optimization loops to identify failure modes • Balance quality, latency, and cost through rigorous experiments and fine-tuning • Launch new agents for Merchants and Dashers from exploration to production • Integrate foundations work (memory, representations, post-training) into production agents • Shape roadmap with engineering, product, and business leaders ### Requirements • 3+ years industry ML experience building and shipping LLM-based agents with evals and data • Experience with post-training/fine-tuning open-weights models (SFT, preference optimization, RL) • Strong NLP and ML foundation with Python proficiency (PyTorch/TensorFlow) • M.S./Ph.D. in CS, Statistics, Math, or equivalent practical experience • Collaborative, growth-minded approach with drive for measurable impact ### Compensation **Base Salary Range (US):** • I4: $137,100 – $201,600 • I5: $167,800 – $246,800 • I6: $203,500 – $299,300 Includes equity grants, 401(k) matching, 16 weeks paid parental leave, comprehensive benefits, flexible PTO, and 80 hours paid sick time annually.
