Rula currently hires in most U.S. states (not hiring in Hawaii). ### About the Role Join Rula’s **Provider Growth, Acquisition & Supply Management** team. Your mission is to ensure Rula has the right providers to meet patient demand. You’ll work at the intersection of **provider experience** and **marketplace dynamics**, helping increase supply where it matters and reduce friction in how providers deliver care—so patients can find help quickly. As a **Staff Software Engineer**, you’ll: - Bring order to ambiguity and design robust systems - Deliver software that directly improves the provider experience - Help the team move quickly and build the right solution - Shape technical direction through product-minded engineering ### Required Qualifications - **8+ years** of professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems - Strong **full-stack** experience building and maintaining production web applications (modern frontend frameworks, backend APIs, data modeling, distributed systems) - Experience **leading initiatives across multiple teams** and influencing technical strategy without direct authority - Hands-on experience using **AI-assisted software development tools** (e.g., Claude Code) as part of regular workflows - Passion for building a high-performing engineering culture through **code reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring** - Strong communication skills; ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience building **AI-powered engineering workflows/tooling/automation** adopted by others and measurably improving speed or quality - End-to-end project experience (discovery → design → implementation → launch → post-launch support) - Experience with **Node.js, React, TypeScript, Kafka, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes** - Experience thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment and scaling engineering organizations ### Benefits (Full-Time Employees) - **100% remote** work environment (must be based in the United States; not hiring in Hawaii) - **Attractive pay & benefits** with full transparency of pay ranges - Comprehensive health benefits: **Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA** - **401(k)** plan access - Generous time off, including **2 company-wide shutdown weeks** each year (for most employees) - **Paid parental leave** (birthing, non-birthing, adopting, fostering) - **Employee Assistance Program (EAP)** - **Quarterly department stipend** for team-building/in-person gatherings - Community and employee resource groups - **Home office stipend** + **$50/month** internet/cell phone support - **Wellness at Rula** program with a **$50/month** wellness stipend ### Team & Culture Rula is committed to **diversity, equity, and inclusion** and building a culture where employees feel safe, seen, heard, and valued.
