We’re the company behind **Astro**, the unified DataOps platform powered by **Apache Airflow®**, helping enterprises build reliable data products and orchestrate data pipelines at scale. --- ## About this role Join our **Platform Engineering** team to help redefine how companies run **Apache Airflow at scale**. You’ll work on the production infrastructure that powers **Astro**, **Observe**, and our **IDE product**—making data pipelines **faster, more reliable, and easier to manage**. You’ll be involved in designing, building, testing, and deploying the next generation of our platform, with a focus on reliability and operational excellence. --- ## What you get to do - Make high-quality, data-driven and experience-driven decisions for the next generation of our production platform. - Own and build how we **test, build, and deploy** code in a high-scale **PaaS** environment. - Collaborate across the company on production system design, standards, and technology choices. - Deliver results while **“changing the wheels on the bus while it’s moving”**—predictably, safely, and reliably. - Help build out the **Platform/Reliability practice** (reports directly to the **VP of Reliability**). - Act as an **owner**: participate in decision-making and keep commitments. - Determine how the platform works, participate in **incident management**, and evolve sensible operational practices. - Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for systems and processes. --- ## What you bring to the role - Strong experience in **non-abstract systems design** and implementation (SRE-focused): https://sre.google/workbook/non-abstract-design/ - Proficiency in **Python** and **Golang**, plus in-depth experience with **Kubernetes** (CKA or equivalent+). - Experience with **observability** (e.g., **SLI/SLO** definition and tracking). - Strong written and verbal communication, including experience working with **globally distributed teams**. - Passion for reliability and operational excellence; low tolerance for toil. - Ability to estimate scope accurately and coordinate with stakeholders to manage risks and deliver successfully. - Experience with software development best practices: **code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, debugging**. - Proactive issue identification and strong ownership/accountability. --- ## Bonus points if you have - Experience building SaaS/PaaS products across multiple cloud providers. - Familiarity with (or strong opinions on) our stack: **CircleCI, Chronosphere (Prometheus), Splunk, Bazel, Istio, Playwright, Karpenter, GitHub Actions**. - Experience with the internals and quirks of **AWS, GCP**, and especially **Azure**. - Experience with on-call rotations (periodic on-call is required for services you own). - Experience with **Apache Airflow**. --- ## Compensation Estimated total compensation: **$168,000 – $230,000** (based on leveling and geography), plus **equity** and a comprehensive benefits package.
