About this role
**Barbaricum is seeking a Computer Systems Engineer I (Computer Network Architect)** to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cyber range and computer test bed environments for Department of Defense (DoD) missions. You will provide technical expertise in **network engineering, virtualization, systems administration, and infrastructure automation** across **physical, virtual, and cloud-based** environments. --- **Responsibilities** - Design, configure, and maintain cyber range and computer test bed environments supporting cybersecurity training, testing, and mission operations. - Implement and manage enterprise network infrastructure, including **routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, Active Directory, VPNs, VLANs, and SANs**. - Deploy and administer physical, virtual, and cloud-based systems using **VMware, KVM, Xen**, and other virtualization technologies. - Develop and maintain automation, provisioning, imaging, and configuration management solutions using **Ansible, Chef, FOG, Python, and Bash**. - Administer **Windows and Linux** server environments to ensure performance, availability, and security. - Monitor network and infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain operational readiness. - Identify and address network vulnerabilities and security risks while supporting cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements. - Support integration and operation of specialized technologies, including **ICS/SCADA, IoT, RF devices, and camera systems**. - Develop and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and standard operating procedures. - Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to support infrastructure modernization and mission requirements. --- **Required Qualifications** - **Active DoD Secret Clearance** - **Bachelor’s Degree** in a related field - Must meet **DoDM 8140.03 IAT II** requirements - Minimum **3 years** experience configuring and operating cyber range or computer test bed environments - Demonstrated experience designing and configuring computer networks (routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, Active Directory, VPNs, VLANs, SANs) using bare metal and virtualized systems - Demonstrated experience with automation/provisioning/imaging/orchestration/configuration management using **Ansible, Chef, FOG, Project, Python, and Bash**; cloud/physical/virtual network architect/engineering and infrastructure monitoring experience; expertise with **VMware, KVM, and Xen** - Demonstrated experience with **Windows enterprise and Linux** server/OS engineering and administration, including knowledge of network vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and mitigation - Demonstrated experience with technologies including **camera systems, ICS/SCADA, IoT, and RF devices** --- **EEO Commitment** All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
