## Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) ### About C1 C1.ai is building a horizontal identity platform—becoming the control plane for modern companies. If an app, infrastructure, internal tool, or AI agent has a concept of **“who”**, it should be able to connect to C1. ### What you’ll do - **Own reliability & scalability** of the platform—design, build, and operate infrastructure that keeps C1 running for customers. - Work across **core cloud** and **FedRAMP** environments. - **Build observability that drives action**: monitoring, alerting, and tooling to help teams respond quickly to incidents. - **Drive operational excellence** with product teams so reliability is built in from the start. - **Automate relentlessly** using infrastructure-as-code and eliminating toil. - **Respond to and learn from incidents**: lead incident response, run blameless postmortems, and drive systemic improvements. - **Plan and execute infrastructure projects** with incremental deliverables—assess risk, communicate tradeoffs, and ship iteratively. ### What we’re looking for - Proven experience building and operating **production systems at scale**. - Strong cloud infrastructure experience (**AWS, GCP, or similar**) and **IaC** (**Terraform, Pulumi, or similar**). - Programming skills in **Go, Python, or similar**—building tools and automation. - Production experience with **Kubernetes** and container orchestration. - Strong **systems thinking** and understanding of failure cascades. - **High agency**—you identify what needs to be built and unblock yourself. - Deep understanding of **observability** (instrumentation, dashboards, meaningful alerts). - Experience with **AI-assisted development** (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot). - Clear, persuasive communication during incidents and across teams. - **Ego in check**—care about getting it right. ### You might also have - Experience with **AI/ML infrastructure** or serving LLMs in production. - Background in **security/compliance** environments (e.g., SOC 2, FedRAMP). - Experience building **developer platforms** or internal tooling. - Familiarity with identity systems/protocols (**SCIM, SAML, OAuth, LDAP**). - Contributions to **open source** or engineering communities. ### Location & eligibility - **In-office in Portland** - Due to FedRAMP responsibilities, **candidates must be U.S. citizens**. ### Compensation & benefits - **Salary range:** $180k–$250k - **Meaningful equity** - Full medical, dental, and vision coverage - Solid benefits across the board ### Hiring philosophy - Impact matters more than ownership. - Ship real things over talk. - Trusted to operate independently. - Fix issues properly—no papering over. - Using AI effectively is expected. *C1.ai is an equal opportunity employer.*
