Choose where you do your best work—home, office, or your favorite coffee shop—while staying connected through regular in-person events. --- ## Overview The Marketing Enablement & Technology (MET) team sits within Instacart’s Marketing organization. We build the systems, APIs, and data pipelines powering Instacart’s Paid Marketing channels—supporting campaign feeds, audience targeting, event pipelines, and QA automation. We’re seeking a **Senior Software Engineer** for the **Paid MarTech pod** to architect and scale backend services and ETL processes enabling marketing campaign execution, conversion tracking, and third-party integrations across: - Paid Social - Display - SEM - Online Video - Linear Television - Streaming Audio You’ll lead projects end-to-end, drive technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner with Marketing, Operations, and Product leadership to shape technical and product strategy. --- ## What you’ll do - Lead complete projects independently across backend services, APIs, and data pipelines (including experimentation, development, and rollout across multiple systems). - Architect scalable, robust solutions focused on performance, reliability, and cost efficiency for high-throughput marketing operations. - Drive technical improvements by identifying and solving deeper underlying problems; design abstractions to simplify complexity and improve reusability. - Partner with Marketing and Product stakeholders to influence features and requirements, balancing complexity, business value, and delivery timelines. - Mentor junior engineers via code reviews, technical guidance, and onboarding support; improve team productivity through process improvements and automation. --- ## About you ### Minimum Qualifications - **5–8 years** of software engineering experience with expert-level **Python** for scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines. - Proven track record leading end-to-end projects (architecture, implementation, experimentation, production rollout). - Deep expertise in data integration (**Snowflake, SQL, ETL**) and workflow orchestration (**Airflow, dbt**). - Ability to design for performance, scalability, and robustness, including comprehensive observability (**logging, metrics, tracing**). - Strong product thinking: research deeply, influence product direction, and make strategic trade-offs. - Excellent communication skills, including mentoring and cross-team alignment. ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience building automation frameworks and reusable abstractions to improve productivity and extensibility. - Advanced knowledge of ad platform APIs (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Snapchat Ads) and conversion tracking at scale. - Deep understanding of digital marketing operations and performance marketing KPIs (**ROAS, LTV, CAC, CPA**). - Experience with cloud cost optimization, chaos engineering, and disaster recovery planning. - Track record managing technical debt and modernizing legacy systems. - Security-by-design experience and leading incident response for production systems. - Ability to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and contribute to AI-assisted development infra
