**Airbnb — Software Engineer, Passport & Commerce (Android)** ## The Community You Will Join - **Passport & Commerce** builds the trusted account and commerce foundation that helps anyone, anywhere, become part of the Airbnb community—from first sign-up, through profile and connections, to bookings, benefits, and business transactions. - This is a **newly formed org** within **Guest & Host**, bringing together **identity and commerce** foundations under one roof. - You’ll partner closely with **Payments & Wallet**, **Identity & Privacy**, **Profile & Community**, and **Guest & Host** product/design/data science teams to stand up the team’s roadmap and technical foundations. ## The Difference You Will Make - Build **Android experiences** that bring account features to life for **millions of guests and hosts**. - Own **well-scoped features** from technical design through launch, working closely with **backend, iOS, and design** counterparts. - Ship **reliable, performant, polished** Android experiences with **parity** across iOS and web, growing your ownership as the Android presence expands. ## A Typical Day - Design and build Android features using **modern declarative UI** and **unidirectional state architecture**. - Partner with **product and design** to deliver polished, accessible Android experiences. - Collaborate with **backend, iOS, and web** engineers to keep behavior and data consistent across platforms. - Write **clean, well-tested, maintainable** code; participate in code and design reviews. - Troubleshoot and resolve **bugs, performance, and reliability** issues in the Android app. ## Your Expertise - **3+ years** of professional Android engineering experience shipping features in a large-scale, production consumer app. - Strong **Kotlin** and modern Android architecture, including **Jetpack Compose**, **MVI/MVVM-style unidirectional state management**, and **dependency injection**. - Experience integrating with **backend** and collaborating with **iOS/web** engineers to keep cross-platform experiences consistent. - Track record delivering features from **technical design → launch → iteration**, with growing scope and independence. - Strong communication and collaboration; seeks and acts on feedback. - Comfortable operating with ambiguity, especially on a newly formed team establishing new surfaces. - Solid understanding of **mobile performance, accessibility, and release/CI** practices for large-scale consumer apps. ## Your Location - **US — Remote Eligible**.
