Anduril Industries · Costa Mesa, California, United States
About this role
**Anduril Industries — Manufacturing Test Engineer (Missiles)** ## About Anduril Anduril is a defense technology company on a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By applying the expertise and business models of today’s most innovative companies to defense, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built, and sold. Anduril’s systems are powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to delivering cutting-edge **autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking** to the military—**in months, not years**. ## About the Team (Barracuda Manufacturing) The **Barracuda Manufacturing Team** is responsible for rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware for the Warfighter. This includes work across the manufacturing value chain, such as: - Design for Manufacturability (DFM) - Tool design and selection - Process creation and optimization - Vendor sourcing and interaction - Quality planning - Work documentation tied to the hardware the Manufacturing Engineer owns ## About the Job As a **Manufacturing Test Engineer**, you will design, build, and sustain the critical test infrastructure that qualifies high-reliability hardware for production. You will define standards for how hardware is validated by partnering with **Reliability Engineers** and **Product Quality Engineers** to: - Gather requirements - Establish pass/fail criteria - Refine test methods as products move from early prototypes to full-rate production You will own the complete lifecycle of test systems—from test planning and instrumentation selection to test rack build-out and **Python-based automation** running on **Linux/Unix** platforms. You’ll also work across disciplines, using tools like **Altium** and **Siemens NX** to design fixtures and interface boards, debug serial and vehicle bus communications (**UART, CAN, RS-485/RS-232**), maintain **AS9100** quality standards, and lead root-cause investigations when test escapes occur. ## What You’ll Do - Maintain ownership of manufacturing test infrastructure across the production lifecycle, ensuring station reliability, calibration, and line throughput - Develop and maintain **PLC-integrated station control software**, including: - Modbus TCP control for rig actuation, interlocks, and sensor acquisition - Maintaining the tag/address index as PLC programs evolve - Tooling to import controller tag exports and validate them against the station’s expected schema - Build hardware-free simulation environments (e.g., containerized station images, virtual CAN replay, device simulators) to develop and regression-test test software without occupying hardware - Gather requirements, develop test methods, and support validation as products mature into production
