We’re looking for an experienced **Senior Software Engineer, Tech Lead** to join our Engineering team. *This is a remote position based on Eastern Time. Talkspace Headquarters is located in NYC.* --- ## What You’ll Do ### Leadership & Project Management - Lead software engineering teams by guiding feature development, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing product releases. - Plan large tasks and delegate work to ensure effective execution. - Maintain high code quality by reviewing pull requests and ensuring adherence to guidelines. - Deliver complex, production-ready features to QA, minimizing bugs and improving code quality. - Persist through roadblocks and collaborate with others to solve problems. ### Technical Expertise & Coding Skills - Be proficient in at least one coding area (**backend, frontend, or devops**) with strong understanding of industry trends and standards. - Review code efficiently and provide constructive feedback. - Bring a big-picture perspective with a strong understanding of business problems. ### Impact & Continuous Improvement - Promote transparency within the team by sharing challenges, failures, and successes. - Maintain a high contribution rate to the codebase; address bugs and open tickets for improvements. - Mentor junior engineers and support hiring and training. - Oversee system updates, monitor system health, and ensure applications are up-to-date. - Take end-to-end responsibility for getting features production-ready and identify potential risks in code. - Ensure consistency and quality through pull request reviews and feedback. - Advocate for and enforce proper QA practices across projects. ### Communication & Cross-Functional Leadership - Collaborate with team members to identify and solve technical challenges. - Create an environment where team members feel motivated to ask questions, voice concerns, and contribute ideas. - Serve as a liaison between engineering, management, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project completion. - Communicate technical decisions clearly through design documents, technical discussions, and comprehensive documentation. - Mentor junior engineers through pairing, feedback, and regular 1:1 meetings. - Proactively communicate with cross-functional teams (including product management and business teams) to address needs and potential issues. - Identify and communicate project risks and requirements issues to stakeholders in a timely manner. --- ## About You - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math. - **6+ years** of professional experience working in **React and Node.js**. - **5+ years** of professional experience in software development. - **3+ years** of experience supporting teams or collaborating with subject matter experts, with a focus on team success and learning from leadership. - Strong technical expertise and understanding of industry trends, with the ability to provide insights and support when needed. --- ## Benefits - Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision plans - Pre-tax benefits: HSA / FSA - 401(k) Retirement Savings Program with matching up to 4% - Voluntary benefits including disability, basic life, and pet insurance (etc.) - Monthly Wellness Stipend f
