About this role
## Overview LMI is seeking a **Front-End Developer / Power Platform Developer** to build Microsoft-native analytics, workflow, and user-facing business solutions for **Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) modernization** initiatives. This is a **hands-on** role focused on delivering **Power BI dashboards**, **Power Apps**, **Power Automate workflows**, **SharePoint solutions**, and lightweight applications—prioritizing **usability, accessibility (Section 508/WCAG), data design, and maintainability**. **Work model:** Hybrid — approximately **25% onsite** at LMI’s **Tysons headquarters (VA)** or **Washington, DC**. --- ## Responsibilities - Design and build **Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, measures, and decision-support products** - Develop **Power Apps**, **Power Automate** workflows, and **SharePoint** lists/libraries, forms, approvals, and notifications - Translate requirements into **data structures, relationships, DAX, Power Query, workflow logic**, and user-facing functions - Apply **practical UX** and **Section 508/WCAG** principles across dashboards, apps, forms, and documentation - Prepare/validate data and coordinate reporting-ready models with data/integration resources - Support **UAT**, defect resolution, change requests, deployment, and **user knowledge transfer** - Maintain **technical documentation**, SOPs, data definitions, solution ownership, and versioning - Integrate with **APIs, Dataverse, Microsoft 365**, or other approved services - Design Power Platform solution architecture across **Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Dataverse**, connectors, permissions, environments, and lifecycle management - Build maintainable solutions using reusable components and audit-friendly business logic - Apply **ALM** practices: solution packaging, environment configuration, release/versioning, security roles, and enterprise support practices - Troubleshoot and optimize for **performance, delegation, connector behavior, refresh, permissions, usability, and data quality** - Facilitate solution-design sessions to confirm workflow, data, roles, exception paths, usability, reporting needs, and component selection - Validate accessibility and responsive behavior with representative users, devices, permissions, data volumes, and real-world workflow conditions --- ## Qualifications - **Bachelor’s degree** in information systems, business analytics, computer science, data analytics, engineering, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered) - **3+ years** developing business intelligence, low-code, workflow automation, or data visualization solutions - Hands-on experience with **Power BI**: data modeling, **DAX**, Power Query, report design, publishing, and governance - Hands-on experience with **Power Apps**, **Power Automate**, **SharePoint**, **Microsoft 365**, and basic **SQL/data-preparation** - Recommended certification: **Microsoft Power Platform Developer** or **Power BI Data Analyst** - Ability to satisfy **VA personnel vetting** and applicable security/privacy/accessibility/records/data-handling requirements - Demonstrated end-to-end delivery: requirements → design → build → testing → deployment → documentation → handoff - Strong troubleshooting across Power BI refresh/model issues, Power Apps formulas/delegation, Power Automate failures, connector behavior, SharePoint/Dataverse permissions, and environment configuration - Ability to balance user needs with governance, maintainability
