Robinhood is looking for bold thinkers, sharp problem-solvers, and builders who want to make an impact. --- ## About the team + role The **Brokerage Infrastructure** team owns Robinhood’s platform—our **tier zero, mission-critical service** responsible for **order processing, account management, and platform availability** during the moments that matter most. These systems handle **millions of transactions per second** across high-volume market events, and **reliability is non-negotiable**. We’re seeking a **Staff Level Engineer** to step into a high-visibility leadership role. You’ll define the technical vision, lead modernization initiatives, and set the reliability bar across Robinhood’s most critical infrastructure. You’ll manage a team of **10+ engineers**, own cross-team stakeholder relationships, and drive engineering excellence at scale. **Location:** Menlo Park, CA and New York, NY (hybrid; expected **3 days/week** in office) --- ## What you’ll do - Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for the platform’s **tier zero order processing and account management** systems - Lead and develop a team of **10+ engineers** (coaching/mentoring, setting a high technical bar, fostering ownership and accountability) - Drive modernization initiatives, including resolving core storage bottlenecks - Own reliability and uptime KPIs, including **SLOs for subsecond order latency**, high availability, capacity planning, and rapid incident recovery during high-volume trading events - Collaborate across infrastructure and product teams to enforce reliability standards and align on technical direction - Proactively identify scalability and reliability risks; champion preventative solutions and coordinate fast, effective incident response - Shape hiring, onboarding, and engineering culture as the platform continues to scale --- ## What you bring - **10+ years** of professional engineering experience, including several years at the staff level and prior Team Lead experience - Deep expertise with **tier zero / mission-critical systems** at significant scale (systems operating at **millions to tens of millions of QPS**) - Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams of ~**10+ engineers**, including senior and staff-level ICs - Experience leading architectural migrations/modernization (e.g., language rewrites, traffic routing simplification, storage improvements) - Strong ownership mentality: challenge scalability assumptions, enforce rigorous engineering processes, and think through edge cases - Track record maintaining correctness and reliability in high-accountability production environments (financial order execution, account management, or similar) - Strong stakeholder management skills; ability to influence and align across infrastructure and product organizations --- ## What we offer - Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career - Performance-driven compensation (multipliers for outsized impact), bonus programs, equity ownership, and **401(k) matching** - Top-tier benefits, including **100% paid health insurance** for employees and **90% coverage** for dependents - Access to the **Robinhood Employee Fund** (eligible US employees can invest in a private employee fund with exposure to Robinhood Ventures funds) - Access to best-in-class AI tools and continuous AI skill-building for every employee - Lifestyle wallet (flexib
