**Senior Software Engineer II, Ads Data Solutions Engineering** **About the Role** Instacart is hiring a Senior Engineer II (L6) to co-own the technical roadmap for our Ads Data Solutions Engineering team. You'll design and ship scalable, data-intensive systems; drive cross-team execution; and raise engineering standards across off-platform advertising, secure data collaboration (cleanrooms), automated taxonomy management, and platform foundations. **Key Responsibilities** • Lead architecture for reusable, scalable systems across off-platform workflows, cleanrooms, taxonomy automation, and the Ads Data Solutions Platform • Expand and harden integrations with external advertising platforms; design privacy-forward activation and identity workflows • Extend cleanroom orchestration and governance tooling; develop reusable query templates and partner configurations • Lead intake automation and release workflow improvements for Ads Taxonomy • Mentor L4/L5 engineers and set code quality standards • Use AI-assisted tools daily for design, coding, tests, and docs; define team prompt patterns • Champion security-by-design, data governance, and privacy compliance (GDPR/CCPA) **Required Qualifications** • 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering large-scale backend/data systems • Strong in Python and one of Ruby or Go; REST/APIs; third-party API integrations • Data pipelines: DBT, Airflow, Spark/Databricks, advanced SQL • Snowflake and AWS experience; cost-aware design • Ad-tech/programmatic experience; cleanrooms (Snowflake DCR); identity/matching (UID2, RampID) • Working knowledge of GDPR/CCPA in data workflows • CI/CD, containers, observability (Datadog); incident readiness and SLO thinking • **Demonstrated hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools** (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) • Clear technical writing and stakeholder management skills **Preferred Qualifications** • UID2/TTD integrations, Roku/Pubmatic/NBCU, or Meta Advanced Analytics experience • Catalog/taxonomy or entity lineage systems • Snowflake governance patterns and partner data collaboration at scale • Building AI-powered internal tools **Why Join** • Lead high-visibility initiatives with measurable impact on revenue and partner adoption • Co-own technical roadmap across multiple pillars • Ship end-to-end features: UID2 activation, taxonomy automation, platform modernization • Collaborate with strong cross-functional teams • Help define future on-call model and operational excellence standards **Compensation** (US-based) CA, NY, CT, NJ: $230,000–$242,500 | WA: $220,000–$232,000 | Select states: $211,000–$222,500 | Other states: $192,000–$202,500 **Work Style** Flex First—work from home, office, or your favorite coffee shop.
