**Peraton is hiring: Jr./Mid-level Software Engineer (Space Programs)** **Location:** White Sands Complex, Las Cruces, NM **Overview** Join the team supporting the SENSE contract for NASA at the White Sands Complex near Las Cruces, New Mexico. You’ll work with two functionally identical satellite ground terminals (White Sands Ground Terminal and a second TDRSS Ground Terminal) that help ensure uninterrupted communications between ground stations, NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft, and supporting computer systems. **Key Responsibilities** - Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis to develop telemetry, tracking, and command software solutions - Contribute to documentation for new and existing programs to ensure information accessibility - Design, develop, troubleshoot, and analyze software programs that operate with hardware systems - Customize purchased applications and help maintain program libraries and manuals based on research and customer needs - Provide feedback and status reports to management on software and hardware availability and performance - Work with customers to provide hands-on first-level support **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field **and** 2 years of relevant experience - **Security clearance:** Must be able to obtain and maintain a **DoD Secret** clearance - Must be a **U.S. Citizen** and provide proof of citizenship - Must be able to maintain access to the government worksite **Desired Experience** - Software engineering experience with **OpenVMS** or **Linux** or **Windows** - Experience with **SQL databases** - Experience with object-oriented languages such as **Ada**, **C++**, or **Java** - Familiarity with software design principles - Willingness to learn and stay agile in a dynamic environment - Ability to work in a team environment - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members **Compensation** - **Target Salary Range:** $51,000 – $82,000 - Salary depends on factors including scope/responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and location.
