## Spring & Summer 2027 Software Engineering Co-op ### Overview Peraton is seeking **Spring & Summer 2027 Software Engineering Co-ops** to support the **County of San Diego** contract from **January 2027 through August 2027**. As a Software Engineering Co-op, you’ll build and prototype software that helps County departments work faster—using **modern AI tools** and **AWS cloud services**. You’ll contribute code, develop test ideas through **rapid prototyping**, and see your work move from concept to use in a live public-sector environment. **Co-op structure:** - **40 hours/week** throughout the duration of the co-op - **Hybrid** work arrangement - Based in **San Diego, CA** ### Responsibilities - Build and prototype software for County departments - Contribute code and support rapid iteration - Use modern AI tools and **AWS cloud services** to develop solutions - Work alongside Peraton professionals on real projects modernizing County services ### Qualifications **Required Qualifications** - **US Citizenship** - **HS Diploma** and some advanced level training - Currently an **undergrad or graduate student** (progress toward or pursuing a degree in **Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related field**) - Coursework or project experience programming in **Python or Java** - Understanding of **object-oriented programming** and **version control (Git)** **Desired Qualifications** - Experience with **.NET/C#** - Exposure to **AWS services** (e.g., **Bedrock, CodeCommit, Lambda**) or other cloud platforms - Experience building with **generative AI APIs** (e.g., **Claude**) or AI coding tools (e.g., **Kiro**) - Familiarity with **JIRA** or **ServiceNow** - Hackathon, personal, or open-source projects demonstrating rapid prototyping ### Location - **San Diego, CA** ### Salary Range - **$28–38/hr** (typical rate/range) ### Notes Peraton is an **equal opportunity employer**.
