This unit operates across the stack, building the resources and tooling that help engineers develop and run services in a secure, reliable, and scalable way. We take a product mindset toward platform engineering—making it “easy to do the right things and hard to do the wrong things.” As part of this role, you’ll help build platform tooling that supports development with LLMs both productively and safely, along with the infrastructure behind AI-powered features. **What You’ll Do** - Ensure reliability of core services, including: - PostgreSQL on RDS - ECS services - CI/CD build systems - OpenTelemetry observability stack on Datadog - Drive security initiatives that address risk with minimal friction - Create tools and share best practices that empower engineers - Influence team standards for non-functional requirements - Collaborate across the company to understand requirements and share knowledge - Build the platform for developing with AI, including: - Day-to-day LLM tooling and guardrails - Infrastructure behind AI-powered product features **What We’re Looking For** - **Experience:** 6+ years in platform engineering or adjacent (SRE/DevOps, etc.) - **Technical expertise:** AWS and open-source tools such as Terraform, Kafka, Temporal, Postgres, and OpenTelemetry - **Incident leadership:** React calmly and quickly during escalations; practice blameless post-mortems and high accountability - **Judgement & planning:** Know when to ship an MVP vs. when to apply more rigor and long-term thinking - **Communication & collaboration:** Share the “why” behind what you build cross-functionally - **Customer empathy:** Understand organizational pain points and build to meet needs **Nice to Have** - Security/compliance experience in healthcare or other regulated environments (HIPAA/SOC2/PCI) - Datadog, Temporal, Kafka, Databricks, Terraform - Monorepo CI/CD systems at scale - Experience growing a ~series B startup (~30 engineers) - Experience with LLM tooling or infrastructure in production **Perks & Benefits** - Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision) + 24/7 virtual urgent care - Weekly therapy reimbursement up to $100 - Paid parental leave (up to 12 weeks fully paid) - 401K (traditional & Roth), HSA & FSA options, and monthly commuter benefits for NYC employees - Flexible PTO - Fitness stipend: $100/month - Hybrid flexibility: in NYC, office 3–5x/week; Fridays remote-friendly **Location / Hiring** Camber is based in New York City and prioritizes in-person and hybrid candidates.
