**Founding Engineer, Consumer Apps** **ABOUT PLACER.AI** Placer.ai is transforming how organizations understand the physical world through location analytics. We've reached $100M ARR in 6 years, achieved unicorn status ($1B+ valuation in 2022), and continue rapid expansion as one of North America's fastest-growing tech companies. **THE ROLE** You'll be the first engineer on Placer's new B2C team, building consumer apps where users contribute data to power the Placer platform. You'll own the technical product end-to-end: mobile apps (iOS/Android), backend services, permission/consent flows, and platform integration. Work directly with the VP of Consumer Apps in a small, lean team that ships fast and uses AI tools to move at scale. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** • Architect and ship Placer's first consumer apps on Android and iOS with scalable backend services • Own the complete consumer experience: onboarding, permissions, engagement loops, and UX polish • Build permission and consent flows compliant with App Store and Google Play policies • Instrument full funnel analytics from day one (attribution, install, registration, engagement, retention) • Own measurement, experimentation, and A/B testing setup • Ship experiments in days, not months—measure and iterate rapidly • Work AI-first using coding, design, and testing tools as default • Embed Placer's data collection technology with privacy-first architecture • Build fraud/abuse controls and account integrity from the start • Make technical decisions on stack, architecture, and vendors • Help hire and mentor engineers as the team grows **REQUIREMENTS** • Bachelor's in CS or equivalent practical experience • 6+ years software engineering; 4+ years on B2C consumer mobile apps shipped to public • Passion for UX with shipped consumer experiences you can explain in detail • Comfortable in move-fast-fail-fast environments; ship imperfect versions and iterate on data • Mastery of AI development tools (coding agents, AI-assisted design/testing/code review) • Track record: took at least one consumer app from zero to launch as founding/early engineer • Deep expertise in one native platform (Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift) + working fluency in the other • SDK integration experience in consumer mobile apps • Backend experience building APIs and data services on cloud platforms (Python and GCP preferred) • Direct App Store and Google Play experience including data-safety declarations • Clear communication and judgment to raise risks early **NICE TO HAVES** • Demonstrated use of AI tools for efficiency gains (professional or personal) • Comfort integrating generative AI into daily workflows **WHY JOIN** • Pioneer a new market we're creating • Take a central, critical role at a rocketship company • Work with top-notch talent • Competitive salary: $200,000–$240,000 USD • Excellent benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401K, equity) • Fully remote *Placer.ai is an equal opportunity employer with a global remote workforce.*
