**Software Engineer SME** **Overview** AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through strategic solutions in **Information Technology, Engineering & Analysis, Test & Evaluation, and Training**. **Responsibilities** - Perform **system engineering** and develop a **multimedia review tool** using **Agile** to integrate **bug fixes, security enhancements, and new capabilities**. - Serve as a **Subject Matter Expert (SME)** for the multimedia review tool code base and **lead a team of developers** to implement new features and resolve software issues. - Deliver multimedia review tool **builds** using Agile processes, providing **incremental builds** based on agreed-upon **MXU requirements**. - Develop and enhance the tool to **visually display, correlate, and report multimedia data** using **metadata** and **analytic results**. - Integrate the **ingestion workflow** with other **MXU systems** to transfer data and processing results between geographically separated systems with **limited bandwidth**. - Integrate **MXU analytics** so users can view images **quickly and intuitively**. - Perform **system engineering and system administration** to deploy the tool across all **MXU development and operational environments**. - Maintain deployments across multiple infrastructures, ensuring the tool remains consistent with **policies, procedures, and requirements**. - Provide **level-of-effort and timing estimates** during planning sessions. **Qualifications** - **Active Top Secret clearance** with ability to obtain **SCI access**. - **10+ years** of software development experience, including in-depth knowledge of **multimedia processing, analysis, and data management**. - Direct and recent experience building a **petabyte-scale multimedia analysis platform**. - Experience developing and maintaining applications handling **petabyte-scale data** and **high-throughput processing**. - Proficiency in **Java** and front-end technologies: **JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Vue**. - Familiarity with **Agile** and **CI/CD** practices. - Demonstrated ability to **lead a technical team** (set goals, assign tasks, drive projects to completion). - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex software issues. - Experience with **UI/UX design** to ensure tools are accessible and efficient. - Relevant certifications in **technical architecture** or **software engineering** (preferred). **Pay Transparency** - Salary range: **$125,000.00/year – $135,000.00/year** - Actual compensation determined based on factors permitted by law. **Benefits** Comprehensive benefits program including **healthcare**, **paid leave**, **retirement plans**, **insurance programs**, and **education/training assistance**. **EEO** EEO Race/Sex/Disability Status/Veteran Status
