**Software Engineer II, Android** **About Toast** Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world. We're expanding into adjacent markets and building a world-class Device Management platform. **The Role** As a member of the Android Systems team, you'll bridge hardware and software to build the foundational platform for Toast POS devices. You'll work on device setup, security, firmware updates, and multi-location device tooling. **Key Responsibilities** • Design and implement Android system applications in Java or Kotlin for device management • Build background services designed to run reliably with minimal user interaction • Support new hardware bring-up and OS upgrades • Expand automated testing framework using Robot Framework • Investigate and debug production issues across Toast's device fleet • Collaborate with Product, Hardware, QA, and other Software teams **Required Experience** • 3+ years of Android application development • Proficiency in Java or Kotlin • Experience with Android architecture patterns (Hilt, AndroidX, Kotlin Coroutines) • Proficiency with Android debugging tools (adb, logcat) • Experience with Git, Gerrit, or GitHub • Clear written and verbal communication **Bonus Skills** • Automated testing (Robot, UIAutomator) • AI-augmented development tools • Android framework/system services experience • Mobile Device Management (MDM) knowledge **Compensation (USD)** Zone A: $133,000–$213,000 | Zone B: $115,000–$184,000 | Zone C: $104,000–$166,000 **Benefits & Culture** Competitive total rewards including equity and benefits.
