## Epic Application Architect (Procedural Area) ### Overview Provides expert-level application support by designing application programs and services to support the optimal use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology. Serves as a technical leader and internal consultant/advocate/mentor/change agent for assigned Epic EHR applications. ### What You Will Do - Analyze high-level requirements using knowledge of clinical workflows and business needs to determine the best technical approach. - Plan, design, and drive delivery of technologies that reduce costs or improve organizational capabilities. - Ensure consistency of tools, standards, and metrics used in maintenance and design. - Participate in “what-if” scenarios with other teams to perform root cause analysis of chronic service/system problems and outages. - Identify system and process improvements and recommend changes to IT leadership. - Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned EHR applications; design application-level programs and services to optimize EHR use across the organization. - Validate code using appropriate test protocols; document changes and manage them through change management. - Proactively identify and address scalability and performance bottlenecks. - Provide technical leadership to EHR and customer service teams to advance Electronic Health Record capabilities. - Provide technical design recommendations aligned with long-term EHR strategy, application evolution, and EHR best practices. - Use process engineering tools during requirements gathering to apply improvement techniques. - Support team growth by reviewing design/development work, instructing team members as needed, and providing final approvals for changes. - Bridge clinical environment knowledge with the architecture of assigned Epic application solutions. - Evaluate potential implementation of new technology to improve existing systems and meet business needs. - Maintain strong knowledge of the assigned Epic application area and EHR workflows/best practices. - Research, collect, and share information on emerging EHR technologies and key learnings. - Provide recommendations and alternate solutions to peers, management, and customers. - Communicate technical strategies, vision, problems/solutions, updates, and project status to stakeholders. - Research and present detailed information for cost justification of new purchases. - Provide feedback on team and individual performance against established assignments. - Perform on-call/off-hours duties as required. ### Education - **High School Equivalent / GED** (Required) - **Bachelor’s Degree** (Preferred) ### Work Experience - **8+ years** Epic design and configuration experience in the applicable architect area (Required) - **5+ years** working in IT supporting EHR applications (Required) ### Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Strong knowledge of clinical workflows across a variety of settings (Required) - Epic knowledge in procedural areas (Strongly Preferred) - Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills (Required) - Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality (Required) - Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of end users in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines (Required) - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (Required) - Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills (Required) - Intermediate MS Office skills, including process flow design tools such as Visi
