**Senior Manager, Managed Databases** **About the role** CoreWeave is seeking a senior engineer manager to lead the Data Service Team—experts in managing data infrastructures as services. The team owns managed databases, data ingestion, data flow, and data lake/analysis capabilities for CoreWeave and its customers. You’ll develop use cases, discover innovative solutions, and drive automation and operations for data service infrastructure. **What you’ll do** - Build and develop a world-class engineering team (hiring, coaching, and growth) - Tackle hard system-level problems to support the most demanding AI workloads - Design and implement data services that deliver data to teams via APIs (managed solutions) - Improve performance, security, reliability, and scalability of data services - Establish guidelines and guardrails for data access and storage - Ensure compliance with data protection regulations - Use telemetry/system data to improve throughput, latency, and resilience - Partner cross-functionally with platform, product, and infrastructure teams to deliver storage capabilities across the stack - Foster a communicative, supportive, high-performing environment **What we’re looking for** - 5+ years managing/leading data infrastructure service teams; 5+ years hands-on software or infrastructure engineering - Strong understanding of database internals (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aurora, CockroachDB, TiDB, MongoDB, CosmosDB, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, SAP) - Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures and separating compute from storage - Expertise in the life of a query and the life of a transaction - Production operations experience at scale; familiarity with reliability engineering (testing, progressive deployments, error budgets, observability, fault-tolerant design) - Understanding of CAP theorem and concurrency models; ability to define data models and data management guidelines - Interest in database systems research - Familiarity with Kubernetes and interest/comfort using it for event-driven and/or stateful orchestration - Ability to decompose problems into achievable tasks and socialize plans with teammates - Excellent communication skills across engineering, product, and leadership - Proven ability to attract, retain, and grow top engineering talent **Compensation & benefits** - Base salary range: **$207,000–$275,000** (based on experience, skills, market location, and other job-related factors) - Total rewards may include a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and comprehensive benefits (eligibility-based) - US benefits include (among others): medical/dental/vision (100% paid), life insurance, disability coverage, FSA/HSA, tuition reimbursement, ESPP, wellness benefits, family-forming support, paid parental leave, childcare support, 401(k) match, flexible PTO, catered meals, and a casual work environment **Additional notes** - **California Applicants:** California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) notice applies. - **Equal Opportunity & Accommodations:** CoreWeave is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations for the hiring process. - **Export Control Compliance:** This role requires access to export-controlled information; applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements under US export regulations.
