WE’RE DAVE.)** Dave is a financial app on a mission to level the financial playing field—building affordable, transparent, user-centric access to liquidity for millions of Americans. **Team Overview — Risk** Risk is a critical part of Dave’s platform-centric teams, providing real-time analytics to assess users’ risk and behavior, and validating the legitimacy of users’ identities and actions. The team builds and operates event-driven, asynchronous decisioning systems that must be fast, resilient, and auditable at scale. --- **Senior Software Engineer, Backend — What You’ll Do** - Design and build backend services in **TypeScript** for real-time and asynchronous risk decisioning - Build and maintain **event-driven workflows** using queues, pub/sub, and cloud task infrastructure - Design and implement **state machines** for multi-step decisioning and verification flows - Collaborate with **product, operations, and infrastructure** to build and scale backend services - Participate in **code reviews** and other team functions - Own end-to-end delivery of small to medium-sized projects (design → production) - Provide technical leadership and help guide the team’s technical direction - Mentor and pair with other engineers regularly --- **What You’ll Need** - **5+ years** of software development experience - Hands-on experience with **event-driven architecture** (message queues, pub/sub, or similar) - Experience with **cloud task/job scheduling** systems (e.g., Cloud Tasks, SQS, Celery, or equivalent) - Experience designing or implementing **state machines** for multi-step workflows - Strong CS fundamentals and problem-solving skills - Proven ability to work as part of a team - Experience programming in **TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js)** or similar (Java, Python, C/C++, Go) - Experience with **MySQL** and **Google Cloud Platform** - Effective communication skills and a positive, feedback-friendly mindset - Ability to discuss and explain system architecture and design - Comfortable using **AI tools** as part of your workflow—with good judgment on when to rely on them --- **Why you’ll love working here** - Mission-driven work helping millions improve their relationship with money - Virtual-first culture (live/work anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii) - Flexible hours + home office stipend - Premium Medical, Dental, and Vision - Generous paid parental and caregiver leave - 401(k) savings plan with matching - Financial advisor + financial wellness support - Flexible PTO and company holidays (including Juneteenth and Winter Break) - All-company in-person events once or twice a year + virtual events **Equal Employment Opportunity** Dave Operating LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace. **Location**: Remote (U.S., except Hawaii) **#LI-REMOTE**
