**Staff / Senior Software Engineer, Security Fusion Platform** **About Anthropic** Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems—safe and beneficial for users and society. **About the role** Data Center Security Engineering (DCSE) owns physical security across Anthropic’s data center footprint: sites, hardware, and the supply chain that delivers it. The **Security Fusion Platform** correlates physical security signals across the footprint and presents them to analysts who act on them. You’ll build and own the platform analysts work from—covering continuous monitoring, audit evidence, metrics, analyst response, and the classification/analytics pipelines that turn sensor data into events. This is a foundational role: you’ll build the software platform that carries signals from source to analyst decision, ship early versions, and keep them running in production. You’ll define the **event contract** that site sensor/system owners deliver, build the **classification and analytics pipelines**, and own the software that runs in operations spaces (in collaboration with site-focused engineers). You’ll also work with external vendors and integrators to set requirements and acceptance criteria for what you own. **Key responsibilities** - **Design & build the event bus + normalized event schema** (source identity, sequencing, health state, adapter contract, and required adapters) - **Build correlation & alerting** (rules/services that turn independent events into actionable alerts) - **Build classification & analytics pipelines** (computer vision + multi-sensor fusion; results land on the event bus) - **Build analyst surfaces** (queue, escalation tooling, dashboards, camera viewers/video wall content; integrate video analytics so camera streams arrive as events) - **Deliver audit evidence** (durable, tamper-evident event history; evidence exports; retention + access controls) - **Instrument metrics & self-monitoring** (detection rates, nuisance ratios, alert aging, time to resolve; heartbeats/loss-of-telemetry alarms; tested fail-secure behavior; change audit on every rule) - **Deploy across sites** (site-local components + central services; configuration/rules/state sync; commission sites and hand over to analysts) - **Specify the compute platform** (servers, storage, and network segment) to align with segmentation/hardening baselines - **Write requirements & acceptance criteria** for vendors/integrators; review deliverables and decide acceptance/rejection **Minimum qualifications** - Built and run **event-driven backend systems** in production - Proficient in at least one backend language: **Python, Go, or Rust**; experience with **message bus/event streaming** (e.g., Kafka) - Owned a system end-to-end (design, tradeoffs, shipping, and production accountability) - Integrated with external systems you didn’t control (vendor APIs, on-prem appliances, video platforms, building systems) with a plan beyond any single vendor - Directed vendor/integrator work (requirements + acceptance criteria; reviewed deliverables; decided what was accepted) - Designed for failure modes (silent feeds, lost network paths, replayed events, de-tuned rules); tested behavior when sources lie or go quiet - Built tools for operators under pressure and iterated with them **Preferred qualifications** - Experience building/operating a **security operations platform** (SOC, physical security operations, or detection engineering) - Exp
