With 100M+ anime and manga fans across 200+ countries and territories, Crunchyroll powers streaming video, theatrical, games, merchandise, events, and more. **About the role** As a **Software Engineer II** on the **Mobile Monetization** team, you’ll help improve end-to-end monetization experiences on Crunchyroll’s **Android** (and Apple) apps. Your work will focus on increasing subscription and add-on revenue while preserving fan trust and product quality. You’ll own key features and improvements—delivering high-quality code, performance, and user experience—while collaborating with Engineering, Product, Design, and Program Management. **Core responsibilities** - Implement Android features that directly impact the Crunchyroll user experience across supported platforms. - Collaborate cross-functionally to align technical solutions with product goals and customer needs. - Own feature development with a focus on quality, performance, and scalability. - Contribute to team operations (code reviews, on-call support, technical planning). - Continuously improve engineering practices, reduce tech debt, and enhance development efficiency. **About you (requirements)** - **2+ years** building Android apps with **Kotlin**. - Hands-on experience building production apps with **Jetpack** (e.g., **Compose**). - Working knowledge of testing frameworks such as **Espresso**; understand unit, integration, and E2E testing. - Familiar with Android architecture patterns and building maintainable, scalable codebases. - Experience contributing to consumer-facing mobile apps at scale (multimedia/streaming preferred). - Ability to debug complex issues and work within large, modular codebases. - Strong grasp of **Git** workflows and comfort with modern **CI/CD**. - Familiar with **Agile** and cross-functional collaboration. - Experience with **on-call** and building resilient systems that reduce long-term operational burden. - Test-driven mindset; experience using agentic tools to improve development efficiency. **Team & org** The **Fan Experience Engineering Organization** is a global team delivering high-quality experiences across Crunchyroll’s supported platforms (Apple, Android, Roku, and more).
