**Autonomy Engineer, Navigation** **About BRINC:** BRINC builds technology for emergency response, designing unmanned aircraft systems, autonomous drone stations, command-and-control software, and advanced autonomy for public safety. Serving 1,000+ public safety customers across all 50 states. **About This Role:** Design, implement, and optimize real-time planning & perception algorithms for safe UAV navigation. Work across local trajectory generation, obstacle detection/avoidance, global route planning, and behavior planning. **Key Responsibilities:** • Research and design algorithms for safe UAV navigation • Implement and optimize navigation algorithms on embedded processors • Detect and avoid obstacles using sensor data • Validate performance through simulation, testing, and real-world flights • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration • Contribute to technical strategy and best practices **Required Qualifications:** • PhD in Computer Science or related field, OR Master's + 2+ years industry experience • Strong C++ and Python programming skills • Experience developing software for real physical systems • Experience with planning or perception systems for unmanned systems **Preferred Skills:** • Motion/path planning (RRT*, A*, MPC-based trajectory optimization) • Radar, computer vision, or deep learning for edge hardware • UAV reliability, redundancy, and autonomous flight knowledge • ROS2, PX4, MAVSDK, or similar robotics middleware • Safety-critical or certifiable software practices **Benefits:** Comprehensive medical/dental/vision, 401K, parental leave, flexible time off, flexible work environment, free snacks/drinks/espresso (Seattle office).
