**Senior Software Engineer, Embedded** **About BRINC** BRINC builds technology that defines the future of emergency response. BRINC deploys **Drone as First Responder (DFR)** networks that dispatch drones directly to 911 calls, delivering real-time aerial intelligence before ground units arrive. **About This Role** BRINC is seeking an experienced **Embedded Software Engineer** to design and develop on-device software across BRINC’s hardware product line, including indoor/outdoor drones, handheld remote controllers, robotic drone nests, and related support equipment & accessories. **Key Responsibilities** - Own end-to-end software development—from specification to design, implementation, testing, and product support - Write high-quality, flight-ready code (primarily **C/C++**) - Establish top-level design architectures and implementation methodologies - Clearly communicate decisions with internal stakeholders - Document contributions in a revision-controlled environment - Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, perception, controls, test, and manufacturing engineers - Work with customers by debugging issues in the field, incorporating end-user feedback, and supporting new product deployments **Qualifications** - **5+ years** of industry experience developing software for devices - Experience with **C, C++, Python** and related scripting languages - Experience in a fast-paced technical environment - Experience developing and optimizing for **embedded systems** in **Linux** environments - Experience with standard embedded interfaces: **I2C, SPI, UART, CAN**, etc. - Experience developing software for a range of compute hardware (**SoC, MCU**, etc.) - Experience bringing up and testing new hardware with other engineers - Experience with **RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems)** - BS or MS in Computer Science or related field **Preferred Skills** - **7+ years** experience in Aerospace, Robotics, Automotive, Consumer Electronics, or related industries - Experience interfacing with displays, cameras, and perception sensors (e.g., **MIPI**) - Experience with **Yocto** - Experience developing **HDL** (Verilog/VHDL) for **FPGAs**, including video processing pipelines - Experience developing flight control, navigation, and autonomy applications - Experience developing embedded radio systems - Experience developing localization systems (e.g., **GNSS**) - Strong debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing skills - Ability to work independently and in teams; strong communication - Experience developing software for **UAV/UAS** in commercial, industrial, or defense applications **BRINC Culture Values** - Try the hard stuff - Be innovative - Invent the future - Move fast - Listen to end-users - Strive for excellence - Don’t build a dystopia - Be frugal - Save lives through technology **Benefits & Perks (may vary)** - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans - 401K plan - Maternity and paternity leave - Flexible Time Off (Exempt) / Paid time off (Non-Exempt) - Flexible work environment - Orca pass (Puget Sound) - Free snacks, drinks, and espresso (Seattle office) BRINC is an equal opportunity employer committed to safety, diversity, inclusion, and equity.
