**ABOUT BRINC** BRINC builds technology that defines the future of emergency response. As a vertically integrated U.S. drone technology company, BRINC designs and manufactures unmanned aircraft systems, autonomous drone stations, command-and-control software, and advanced autonomy for public safety. BRINC deploys **Drone as First Responder (DFR)** networks that dispatch drones directly to 911 calls—providing real-time aerial intelligence before ground units arrive. **ABOUT THIS ROLE (Senior Backend Software Engineer, LiveOps)** As a Backend Engineer working on **LiveOps**, you’ll build and manage the real-time backend infrastructure that keeps public safety drones **connected, streaming, and fully operational** in high-stakes environments. You’ll own the live operational stack with a focus on **low-latency telemetry, video distribution, remote control links, and system uptime**. You’ll work across backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, and hardware-in-the-loop systems to ensure the live operations platform is **solid, secure, and performant** when a drone deploys on a mission. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** - Own the scalable backend platform supporting worldwide real-time services - Ensure the platform is **secure, reliable, and performant** - Build platform infrastructure and tooling - Rapidly prototype new ideas for customers and internal stakeholders - Collaborate with cross-functional hardware and autonomy teams (e.g., streaming/displaying live drone data for non-technical users) **QUALIFICATIONS** - Degree in computer science (or related field) and **5+ years** shipping high-quality code and building robust infrastructure - Experience building backend platforms from infrastructure through the API layer (bonus: real-time data platforms, scalable microservices, security/encryption) - Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (**AWS, GCP, etc.**) and comfort switching between software engineering and Cloud DevOps - Familiarity with **serverless architecture** and understanding performance vs. cost tradeoffs at scale - Demonstrated experience with cloud architectures focused on **scale, performance, and security** **PREFERRED SKILLS** - Experience with real-time systems or embedded software development - Familiarity with **CI/CD** pipelines and DevOps practice **BRINC CULTURE VALUES** - Try the hard stuff - Be innovative - Invent the future - Move fast - Listen to end-users - Strive for excellence - Don’t build a dystopia - Be frugal - Save lives through technology **BENEFITS & PERKS** - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans - 401K plan - Maternity and paternity leave - Flexible Time Off (Exempt) / Paid time off (Non-Exempt) - Flexible work environment - Orca pass (Puget Sound) - Free snacks, drinks, and espresso (Seattle office) *BRINC is an equal opportunity employer committed to safety, diversity, inclusion, and equity.
