**Staff AI Engineer** **About the Role** Nextiva is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to accelerate new AI initiatives and deliver exceptional customer experiences through a unified, modern platform. This is a hands-on individual contributor role combining system design with deep technical implementation. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, build, and launch new AI-focused engineering capabilities • Own initiatives end-to-end from solutioning through implementation and launch • Remain deeply hands-on with production code development • Build solutions using Python with strong distributed-systems principles • Collaborate with Google Gemini team on NextIQ capabilities • Partner with Nextiva product and engineering teams across the ecosystem • Navigate ambiguous technical problems and translate them into practical solutions **Required Qualifications** • 7-10+ years of software engineering experience with proven production delivery • Expert-level hands-on Python skills • Strong system design and distributed systems experience • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of software modules or capabilities • Ability to remain hands-on with coding at Staff Engineer level • Experience collaborating with internal teams and external technology partners • Remote-capable with Arizona time zone alignment **Preferred Qualifications** • Staff Engineer experience or comparable level • Experience building new products/modules from the ground up • System-level design combined with significant hands-on implementation • Direct collaboration with external technology partners • Experience across distributed engineering teams **Location** Remote across the United States. Candidates within 40 miles of Scottsdale, AZ headquarters expected onsite 4 days/week. **Compensation & Benefits** $115,000 - $200,000 (based on qualifications) Health, dental, vision, life/disability insurance, 401(k) with match, flexible PTO, paid parental leave, EAP, and professional development opportunities.
