**Information System Security Officer (ISSO)** **Overview** AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through strategic solutions in Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. As an **Information System Security Officer (ISSO)**, you will maintain the security posture of assigned information systems and networks while ensuring they remain compliant, operational, and mission ready. You’ll serve as a key cybersecurity advisor to leadership and security stakeholders, supporting accreditation, deployment, sustainment, and ongoing risk management. **Responsibilities** - Maintain the operational security posture for assigned Information Systems (IS) and networks in accordance with cybersecurity policies, directives, and IA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) - Develop and maintain **System Security Plans (SSP)** and **Security Control Traceability Matrices (SCTM)** - Ensure **confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility** of IS resources and maintain high operational availability - Serve as the principal technical advisor to **ISSMs**, **PSOs**, and **Delegated Authorizing Officials (DAO)** - Perform functional duties as the **alternate ISSM** to maximize operational readiness and effectiveness - Support **ATO** and **ATC** for assigned systems, ensuring **RMF compliance** - Provide subject matter expertise for cybersecurity, physical, and personnel security assessments - Conduct recurring cybersecurity assessments to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate security control effectiveness, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations - Develop supporting documentation such as **POA&M** and inspection reports to track discrepancies and remediation strategy - Develop and integrate policy/procedures to strengthen **access controls** for identified vulnerabilities - Participate in professional engagements to support collaboration and successful project outcomes - Maintain IS documentation to capture system and operating environment changes and advise the **Configuration Control Board (CCB)** on ATO/ATC conflicts - Conduct cybersecurity audits and manage audit record collection, review, documentation, and archiving - Complete required initial/annual training to maintain access to supported systems and networks **Qualifications** - **5+ years** of information systems management and cybersecurity experience - **Active TS clearance** with **SCI and/or SAP eligibility** - Proficiency with **firewall administration**, **intrusion detection systems**, **anti-virus**, and **data encryption** - Familiarity with **LAN/WAN** technologies and best practices in classified environments, including **crypto and key management** - In-depth knowledge of information security principles and practices, including **NIST SP 800-53**, **DoD RMF**, and **DoD Instruction 8510.01** - Experience with **cybersecurity RMF compliance** and regulatory requirements - Working knowledge of **Microsoft Windows** (workstation & server), **Linux**, and **system virtualization** in secure networks - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Strong communication skills; able to brief executives and IPT leadership - Self-starter with a strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to the IPT **Pay Transparency** - Salary range: **$160,000.00–$180,000.00 USD/year** - Actual compensation will be determined based on factors
