More than 1,400 firms in nearly 60 countries use Addepar to manage and advise on nearly $9 trillion in assets, with an open platform integrating with nearly 650 partners. **The Role** Join Addepar’s **Files Platform** team as a **Staff Software Engineer**. This team builds the distributed systems behind secure enterprise file storage, access control, and third-party integrations for wealth management firms. In this role, you’ll tackle distributed systems and event-driven architecture challenges—designing solutions that scale from small advisory firms to the largest wealth managers—while meeting strict latency SLAs and complex authorization/data access requirements. **What You’ll Do** - Architect, implement, and maintain backend services for file storage, permissions synchronization, and third-party integrations at enterprise scale. - Design and build event-driven systems for real-time permission propagation across Addepar’s financial graph and external storage providers, meeting compliance revocation SLAs. - Collaborate with product managers, engineers, security, and compliance partners on sensitive data access control projects. - Contribute to migration efforts (e.g., FileVault → Box, webhook consolidation, folder structure evolution) with zero-downtime rollouts. - Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices. - Explore and build AI-powered capabilities for intelligent file processing, automated metadata extraction, and content-aware workflows. - Evaluate emerging third-party file platform capabilities to expand Addepar’s file management offerings. **Who You Are** - 7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience - B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science (or similar technical field) - Experience with server-side languages such as Java, Python, or C++ - Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server) - Ability to complete complex projects across multiple teams/partners - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - **Bonus:** AWS scalable cloud infrastructure - **Bonus:** Experience working with file system vendors **Pay Transparency (Base Salary Range)** $158,000 — $248,000 USD Compensation includes base salary + bonus + equity + benefits.
