The **Marketplace Performance** team owns key monetization artifacts that drive GMV and partners closely with Revenue, TAM, CSM, and Merchant teams to help make Affirm a trusted destination for discovery, comprehension, and shopping. --- **What You’ll Do** - Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale and align it with critical, business-impacting projects. - Collaborate across the product development lifecycle with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are understood and managed. - Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes. - Own team operations and availability: ensure monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place to support “keep the lights on” and on-call. - Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond your team through writing and tech talks. - Help develop talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example. --- **What We Look For** - 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale (e.g., Python or Kotlin). - Strong track record building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes. - Experience building consumer experiences using UI frameworks like React. - 2+ years of experience working in Ad Tech or related platforms. - Experience delivering major features/system components and/or deprecating functionality via clear technical and execution plans. - Writes high-quality code that’s easy to understand and reuse. - Thrives in ambiguity and can move from low-level details to the architecture of large systems. - Demonstrated growth by gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional partners. - Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team. - Requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. --- **Compensation & Location** - Pay Grade: **P** - Equity Grade: **13** - **USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT):** $230,000 – $290,000/year - **USA base pay range (all other U.S. states):** $204,000 – $264,000/year - #LI-Remote --- **Remote-first & Benefits** - **Remote-first with flexibility built in:** Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the country of employment.
