## Principal Systems Testing & Integration Engineer **Location:** Barrow-in-Furness (On-site, full time) **Salary:** Circa **£55,000** (depending on skills and experience) --- ### About the role As a **Principal Systems Testing and Integration Engineer**, you’ll play a key role in integrating complex **Platform Management System (PMS) software** and **control systems**. You will lead test activities, investigate and resolve system issues, work with suppliers and stakeholders, and support **commissioning and acceptance** events. This role supports the full system lifecycle on cutting-edge **submarine programmes**, providing technical leadership while ensuring **safe, high-quality delivery** of critical engineering solutions. --- ### Core duties - Own assigned **functional test design** for the Platform Management System - Manage **test execution and reporting**, ensuring accurate records in line with policy, procedure, and legislation - Capture, communicate, and demonstrate **observations** and **fault investigation** findings to stakeholders - Identify development needs and undertake **mandatory training** - Support **peer reviews** of test input/output documentation to maintain consistency and quality - Represent the company at supplier premises for **demonstrations, UATs, and FATs** - Attend schedule, risk reviews, and technical meetings; provide **SQEP knowledge** to PMS delivery teams - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues that could impact the **test plan** and associated strategies --- ### Essential skills / requirements - **HNC/HND/Degree** in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent qualification/experience - Experience providing **leadership and guidance** to a team - Either **Chartered Engineer (CEng)** status or actively working towards it - Software test experience, including **automation** of unit, module/component integration, and system-level testing **or** commissioning of control systems with an **HMI interface** (e.g., Marine, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Automotive, or similar) - Knowledge/experience with electrical control systems using **Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)** --- ### Security / eligibility notice Many roles at BAE Systems are subject to **security and export control restrictions**.
