## Staff Software Engineer — Postgres Control Plane ### About the role Snowflake is building a world-class OLTP service on Postgres and is hiring Senior/Postgres Engineers to help build the new Snowflake Postgres service. This is an opportunity to help deliver a large-scale, multi-cloud Postgres offering with access to an existing customer base. ### As a Senior Postgres Engineer, you will: - Develop the orchestration layer / control-plane for large-scale databases - Work with AWS, Azure, and GCP APIs - Build High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions - Tune Postgres to operate at scale for some of the largest datasets in the world - Secure and ensure customer data is protected - Collaborate with top engineers to redefine the space—from distributed systems to low-level optimizations that improve system performance ### Our ideal Senior Postgres Engineer will have: - 7+ years of industry experience designing, building, and developing large-scale production systems - Experience building and maintaining distributed, highly available, fault-tolerant services - Strong understanding of low-level operating systems concepts (multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale) - Excellent fundamental computer science skills - Experience with Java, Python/Ruby, and/or Go - Experience running and maintaining large Postgres servers - Familiarity with cloud networking (VPCs, PrivateLink, peering, etc.) - Experience working with remote, geographically distributed teams - Excellent verbal and written communication skills ### Plus (preferred): - Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Computer Science - Deep, expert knowledge of Postgres (WAL, extensions, configuration, replication, etc.) - Experience designing and implementing large systems for public or private clouds - FedRAMP and DoD deployment experience ### Location / compensation note (US) For jobs located in the United States, please visit the job posting on the Snowflake Careers Site for salary and benefits information: **careers.snowflake.com** http://careers.snowflake.com
