Today, they’re expanding into more financial products across spending, saving, investing, exchanging, traveling, and more. ## The Role: Engineering Manager — Stock Trading App BJAK is looking for an **Engineering Manager** to lead a high-performing engineering team building and scaling products used by millions across the region. You’ll be a strong technical leader who can: - Lead engineers and make sound architecture/engineering decisions - Drive products and systems from idea to production - Own both **engineering team quality** and the **quality + speed** of what the team ships You’ll operate across **people, product, and technology**—setting a high engineering bar while staying focused on real customer and business outcomes. ## What You’ll Own - Lead and manage engineers across **frontend, backend, and full stack** - Own engineering delivery for major product areas, shipping quickly without sacrificing reliability or technical quality - Partner with **product, design, mobile, backend, and AI** to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical execution - Drive technical architecture across **APIs, databases, integrations, infrastructure, and customer-facing systems** - Set standards for **code quality, system design, testing, observability, security, and production reliability** - Stay close to the technical work (architecture reviews, code reviews, debugging, critical decisions) - Develop engineers via feedback, coaching, performance management, and clear expectations - Identify performance gaps early and raise the team’s engineering/execution bar - Improve engineering processes, tooling, and automation to move faster at scale - Own production outcomes beyond release: monitor systems, resolve incidents, identify root causes, prevent repeats - Build an engineering culture focused on ownership, speed, technical excellence, and continuous improvement ## What We’re Looking For - Strong software engineering background with experience shipping real production systems - Experience leading/managing software engineers and owning engineering delivery - Strong technical depth across **backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure** - Ability to make sound architecture and trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability - Track record taking products/systems from idea → development → launch → production - Comfortable reviewing designs, challenging decisions, and debugging complex production issues - Strong people leadership (coaching, performance management, building high-performing teams) - Strong product sense—connecting engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes - Ability to work fast with ambiguity, set priorities, and drive toward clear outcomes - Strong ownership mindset (when something breaks or slips, you take responsibility) ## This Role Is Not For - Managers who want to manage people without staying close to technology - Engineering Managers who want the title but not accountability for team performance - Leaders who need complete specifications before starting - Managers who measure success by meetings/process/tickets instead of shipped outcomes - People who avoid difficult technical decisions, performance conversations, or prod
