**Lead Engineer (US)** **About BJAK** BJAK is Southeast Asia's leading insurance platform, expanding into spending, saving, investing, exchanging, and travel services. Founded in 2019, we're on a mission to help people get more from their money every day. **The Role** We're seeking a Lead Engineer to take technical ownership of complex products and systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll design systems, write and review code, solve difficult engineering problems, guide engineers, and drive major initiatives from idea to production. **What You'll Own** • Lead technical design and execution of major products and engineering initiatives • Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure • Stay hands-on with coding, prototyping, code reviews, and production problem-solving • Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability • Set high standards for code quality, system design, testing, security, and reliability • Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across the team • Identify technical risks and architectural weaknesses early • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and AI teams • Improve engineering tooling and development practices • Own systems through production—monitor, investigate incidents, and continuously improve **What We're Looking For** • Strong software engineering background with significant production systems experience • Deep technical expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure • Strong system design and architecture skills • Proven experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership • Comfortable with code reviews, debugging, and production systems • Strong product sense and ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes • Ability to work fast with ambiguity and take ownership end-to-end • Strong judgment on when to move quickly vs. invest in deeper engineering **Location & Language** Remote, global. English is required for our international team. **Interview Process** 1. Online assessment or practical task 2. Technical interview 3.
