**Software Engineer, Desktop** **About ActAI** Building proactive, AI-native applications for billions of users. Our mission is to bring intelligence to conversations, errands, organizing, and workflows with minimal prompting—focusing on reliability, persistent context, and real-world task completion. **The Role** Own how our system behaves on desktop environments. You'll focus on reliability, performance, and real-time behavior in production desktop applications. **Key Responsibilities** • Build and maintain cross-platform desktop applications using Electron • Design responsive, scalable UIs for real-time collaboration • Implement desktop-specific functionality (file system access, notifications, auto-updates, deep linking) • Integrate AI-powered features via backend APIs • Optimize startup time, memory usage, and runtime performance • Profile and reduce Electron overhead • Manage large local state and message history efficiently • Ensure smooth real-time updates across macOS and Windows **Ideal Experience** • Proven software engineering background • Production Electron application experience • Strong JavaScript and TypeScript proficiency • React or similar UI framework experience • Desktop application lifecycle understanding • IPC communication experience • Local storage expertise (SQLite, IndexedDB, filesystem) • WebSockets or real-time transport experience • Strong debugging and performance profiling skills • Familiarity with native OS behaviors (macOS/Windows) **Tech Stack** Electron • Node.js • TypeScript • SQL & NoSQL **How We Work** Small, world-class team with high talent density.
