**Lead Engineer - AI Payments App** **About BJAK** BJAK is Southeast Asia's leading insurance platform, expanding into spending, saving, investing, exchanging, and travel. We're a global team of 20+ nationalities working remotely and from offices worldwide. **The Role** We're seeking a Lead Engineer to own complex products and systems while raising the engineering bar across the team. This is a hands-on technical leadership position where you'll design systems, write code, solve difficult problems, mentor engineers, and drive initiatives from idea to production. **What You'll Own** • Lead technical design and execution of major products and initiatives • Design scalable, reliable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure • Stay hands-on with coding, prototyping, code reviews, and production problem-solving • Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability • Set high standards for code quality, testing, security, and observability • Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across the team • Own systems beyond release—monitor production, investigate incidents, improve reliability • Work closely with engineering, product, design, and AI teams **What We're Looking For** • Strong production systems background with significant shipping experience • Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure • Excellent system design and architecture skills • Strong coding ability and willingness to remain hands-on • Proven experience leading major projects or providing technical leadership • Comfortable with code reviews, debugging, and production systems • Strong product sense connecting technical decisions to business outcomes • Ability to work fast with ambiguity and take ownership end-to-end **Location & Language** Remote, global hiring.
