**Principal Software Engineer, AI Email App** **ABOUT THE ROLE** Own the engineering layer that turns AI capability into a reliable product. Shape architecture across backend services, APIs, and client applications while leading a small team of senior engineers. This is a hands-on leadership role where you stay close to the code, make critical architectural decisions, and ensure the system remains fast, reliable, and coherent as it scales. **WHAT YOU'LL OWN** • Application engineering strategy and execution across backend, mobile, and desktop • Reliable systems for AI-powered workflows (state, orchestration, tool use, retries, fallbacks, failure handling) • APIs and abstractions connecting AI systems to real-world product experiences • Small senior engineering team leadership through design/code reviews and mentorship • High-impact trade-offs across latency, reliability, cost, security, and UX • Production foundations: observability, monitoring, testing, operational excellence • Partnership with ML leadership to turn model capabilities into robust products • Quick execution while maintaining simple, maintainable, scalable architecture **WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR** • Significant experience leading application/product engineering for complex systems • Strong hands-on background building and shipping production backend systems • Experience with AI-powered products integrating modern ML/LLM capabilities • Strong technical judgment and decision-making with incomplete information • Comfort across backend and client platforms with deep expertise in at least one • Strong bias toward ownership, shipping, and learning from real-world usage • High standards for code quality, reliability, and engineering fundamentals **INTERVIEW PROCESS** 3-4 virtual and/or onsite interviews conducted by technical team members.
