**Senior Software Engineer II - Ads Quality** **Overview** Join Instacart's Ads Quality team as a Senior Software Engineer II specializing in ML infrastructure. You'll design and deploy machine learning systems that optimize ad performance across the entire serving funnel, from retrieval to pricing. Lead the technical direction of data, feature processing, and model training/serving solutions while building infrastructure for next-generation models, including foundation models powering all Ads use cases. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, develop, and deploy ML infrastructure for complex marketplace challenges • Optimize training and serving bottlenecks—improve throughput, cost, and latency • Build real-time feature processing infrastructure with low-latency pipelines • Lead infrastructure for real-time sequential foundation models • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and MLEs • Mentor engineers and set technical direction **Minimum Qualifications** • Graduate degree (Masters/PhD) in CS, AI, ML, OR, or equivalent experience • 3+ years building ML infrastructure or solving real-world problems with large datasets • Deep expertise in ML infrastructure for training/serving in production • Strong programming skills (Python, Go) and data tools (SQL, Spark, Pandas) • Experience with ML frameworks (Torch, TensorFlow, XGBoost) • Strong analytical and communication skills **Preferred Qualifications** • 5+ years tech leading teams on ML infrastructure • Experience optimizing training pipelines and serving architectures • Real-time/online feature processing and streaming systems (Kafka, Flink) • Sequential modeling, transformers, and large-scale recommendation systems • Experience serving foundation models in low-latency, high-QPS settings • Digital advertising platform experience • LLM integration and prompt engineering familiarity **Compensation** (US-based) CA, NY, CT, NJ: $230,000–$242,500 | WA: $220,000–$232,000 | Other select states: $211,000–$222,500 | All other states: $192,000–$202,500 **Work Style** Flex First team—work from home, office, or your favorite location with regular in-person events.
