About this role

**Omada Health — Senior Engineering Manager, Member Experience** *Omada Health is on a mission to bend the curve of chronic disease.* ## Job Overview We’re hiring a **Senior Engineering Manager** to own a significant piece of Omada’s **member-facing** surface. You’ll own what gets built, in what order, and how the people building it grow. A squad owns problems from **prototype to production**, including maintenance and the **on-call rotation** for what it ships. At this level, you’ll make the hardest capacity calls when multiple good things compete for time. You stay technical—working in the codebase and in the same agent workflows your builders use—so you can review architecture, catch weak designs, and be useful in an incident. You’ll partner with **Product Strategists** (who prototype in front of members, coaches, and stakeholders). They own what gets built and why; you own whether it can be delivered, at what cost, and by when—shaping the roadmap. ## About you - You’re accountable for what your squads ship, and you still write code (and want to). - You have a point of view on where **AI-assisted development** helps vs. creates rework—grounded in how real teams operate. - You’ve developed leaders: you know the difference between doing the work for someone and raising their ceiling. - Your first team is your peer group. When engineering slows down and it’s nobody’s job, you pick it up, get the right people in the room, and finish it. ## What you’ll be doing - **Own delivery across your squads:** sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, and estimation. Make the calls and be accountable—especially when two squads want the same thing. - **Own cycle time:** improve it without sacrificing quality, and explain changes (including why one squad is slower than another). - **Stay technical:** ship production work off the critical path on squads you manage directly; on squads that run through another manager, stay close enough to review architecture, catch weak designs, and support incidents. - **Partner with your Product Strategist:** hold the line between scope so the squad isn’t answering the same question in two different ways. - **Grow a manager:** if an EM reports to you, their growth is your work product. - **Plan for next year:** headcount, skill mix, and onboarding paths that get new builders productive in weeks (not months). - **Set the AI standard beyond your boundary:** document what good looks like, teach it, and measure adoption. - **Take on the problem that is nobody’s:** identify blockers slowing engineering broadly, organize peers, and close them out. ## What you need for this role - **8+ years** in software engineering, including **4+ years** managing engineers directly. - Experience developing another leader (manager you grew, or an engineer you grew into a tech lead/EM role with real accountability). - A track record shipping **mission-critical** software to production and owning what happens afterward. - Experience owning prioritization and estimation, including saying **no / not now** with clear reasoning. - Experience giving direct developmental feedback, including managing through underperformance with real support. - Currently shipping (or recently shipped) production code in at least one layer of the stack (backend, web frontends, iOS, or Android), with enough range to review architecture critically. - Comfort with an **expert-generalist** model (backend-heavy builder ships in mobile app and mobile-heav
