Revenue bookings for our new AI-native product suite have grown **20x+** since launching in 2024. ## About the Role — Applied AI Engineer As an **Applied AI Engineer**, you’ll build AI-powered solutions across our **Clinical Documentation** and **Medical Coding** suite. You’ll work closely with **product, design, and machine learning** teams to design and build the **services, APIs, and tools** that power our SaaS products. Together, you’ll help create AI-native products that correct clinical errors for **hundreds of thousands of patients** and deliver **hundreds of millions of dollars** in measurable value for customers—improving documentation quality, identifying missing diagnoses, converting documentation to medical codes, and ensuring financial integrity for health systems. ## What You’ll Do - **Build features driven by LLMs**—touching the whole stack, from agentic systems for revenue cycle workflows to production infrastructure across hundreds of hospitals. - **Collaborate with subject matter experts** on complex problems spanning clinical diagnoses and regulated medical billing. - **Deploy evaluation frameworks and experimentation loops** to deliver reliable, production-grade systems, using data-driven/statistical approaches to balance coding guidelines, user feedback, and auditability. - **Partner with product, clinical, and revenue cycle experts** to push what AI can do inside the healthcare revenue cycle. ## What We’re Looking For - **B.S.** in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field - **3+ years** in a technical role with a strong foundation in **AI and data analysis** or **backend systems** - **1+ year** shipping **production AI systems** to end users - Experience designing **offline/online evaluations** and **agentic systems** - **Proficiency in Python** - Thrives in a **startup environment** working on challenging problems - Healthcare tech experience (**EDI, HL7, FHIR**) is a plus ## What We Offer - **Flexible paid time off (PTO)** - Health, dental, and vision coverage - Employer contribution to **HSA** - Generous **parental leave** - Full employee coverage for **life insurance** - **Home office stipend** - Cell phone/internet reimbursement - Company-paid holidays - **401(K)** plan ## Compensation - Salary range: **$180,000–$250,000 + Equity** - Final offer may vary based on qualifications and market factors. ## Equal Opportunity AKASA is an **equal opportunity employer** and committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
