## High School IT Intern ### Overview Entry-level role providing IT services and support (with guidance) to enhance departmental operational efficiencies, patient safety, and workflow needs. This position is designed to build experience and skills for an IT role in a healthcare organization. ### What You Will Do - Assist with the design of system workflows with clinical and business partners to improve efficiencies and incorporate quality initiatives - Provide support and input as needed; escalate issues appropriately - Participate in change management activities to support system deployments and enhancements - Help ensure strong documentation standards, including creation of functional design specifications - Assist in developing policies and procedures with clinicians, business personnel, other team members, and the IT manager - Assist with the development and maintenance of system documentation - Troubleshoot issues with vendor assistance to resolution - Support/troubleshoot Hospital Information Systems inbound/outbound interfaces as appropriate - Create reports as needed and work problem tickets using ServiceNow (or the designated process) - Work with other application analysts to ensure system integrations - Follow and maintain change control procedures and standards - Prepare detailed flowcharts/diagrams to support design decisions and problem analysis ### Additional Responsibilities - Perform other duties as assigned - Comply with all policies and standards - Follow department orientation documentation for specific duties and responsibilities - Maintain safe and secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients - Complete required annual training and adhere to the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies/procedures for appropriate PHI use ### Education - Current High School Student (Required) ### Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Required) - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Detail-oriented, organized, with good analytical and problem-solving ability - Client service, communication, and relationship-building skills - Ability to work in hospital clinical and office areas where patient safety and confidentiality are core values - Reliable transportation and flexibility to work varying shifts - Demonstrated ability to use PCs, Microsoft Office suite, and general office equipment (e.g., printers, copy machine) ### Physical Demands - Standing: Occasionally - Walking: Occasionally - Sitting: Constantly - Lifting: Rarely up to 20 lbs - Carrying: Rarely up to 20 lbs - Pushing: Rarely up to 20 lbs - Pulling: Rarely up to 20 lbs - Climbing: Rarely up to 20 lbs - Balancing: Rarely - Stooping: Rarely - Kneeling: Rarely - Crouching: Rarely - Crawling: Rarely - Reaching: Rarely - Handling: Occasionally - Grasping: Occasionally - Feeling: Rarely - Talking: Constantly - Hearing: Constantly - Repetitive motions: Frequently - Eye/Hand/Foot coordination: Frequently ### Travel Requirements - 10%
